The northern trail follows the shoreline for about nine kilometers. Drying racks along the beach hold nets through the summer. The weather radio repeats the marine forecast every hour.

Longer daylight in June changes the whole town's schedule. Snow arrives early on the high plateau and stays late. Wind from the northwest brings clear skies to the coast.
